(Like Water for Chocolate)
Director: Alfonso Arau
Year: 1992
Book and screenplay by: Laura Esquivel
Cinematographer: Emmanuel Lubezki, Steven Bernstein
A mexican romance novel turned into a really good film, actually.
Sisters choose different fates despite the very restrictive roles laid out for them by society of the time and their own mother (what feminists call a self-oppressor).
If you were compiling a list of films for feminists, you would be remiss to not include this one.
See it!
